This event was brought to you by Hydro Manila, UP Mussaenda Honor Society, and the UP Zeta Beta Rho Honor Fraternity
Date: November 4, 2016 (Friday)
Time: 4:00PM to 2:00AM
Venue: Dona Jovita Garden Resort, Pansol, Calamba, Laguna
Do you remember people shouting "P*T*NGINA MO" and "TUBIG" (water) as if their bodies were craving for it? It's time to recall the event!
Gates were opened at exactly 4:30 PM, according to one of the organizers. My friends and I arrived at the event by around 10:00 PM. Everything that prostrated in me was far beyond my expectations.
EXPECTATION # 1: BIG CROWD
Since it is a big event and still part of Hydro Manila’s event, I really expected a big crowd but when I arrived there, the number of goers was just competitively fair. It didn’t shock me because it had the same number of attendees in normal parties here in Laguna (at least in my opinion).
P.S. The crowd looks super big in photos and videos.
EXPECTATION # 2: THE VENUE WILL BE HELD INSIDE THE RESORT ITSELF
I was sort of impressed when I found out that the venue would be Doña Jovita Resort and got excited on how the organizers will pull that off but… I was again, surprised to know that the event occurred at the PARKING LOT of the Resort. The thing is… the ground is not cemented so it was like an instant mud party for the goers.
EXPECTATION # 3: FREE ZIP LOCK BAGS
They didn’t even think of the attendees’ welfare because they didn’t even issue a zip lock bag to us (good thing I was too prepared and brought my own). Although, I saw some people with something hanged around their necks—it was like a cellphone case; and I assumed that it was waterproof. Again, because we're good at assuming things, I assumed that it was given only to the VIPs. But! I have a friend who’s part of the VIP list but they didn’t issue her a zip lock bag. I just found it a little bit off because I've been to local parties here in Laguna that also involves water but the organizers were sweet enough to give EVERYONE (Sponsors/ VIPs, Regular Tickets, Walk-ins) a zip lock bag for their phones/ keys/ money. It's just off that they neglected minor needs of other attendees.
EXPECTATION # 4: HIGH LEVEL OF INTENSITY IN TERMS OF HYPE
I don't know if it was just the DJs or maybe because majority of the attendees were (maybe) not really party goers.
When I stayed at the back, I could observe the movements of the people in the middle (dance area). There were dull moments most of the times and people will just lose their heads if the beat was already at its highest or when they already started splashing the water over the people.
I also spent time dancing and part of me says that it was just the people. They cannot follow the right beatings and rhythms. DJ-ing is very crucial that they must count bars for a perfect cut and mix until they decide to turn their music into its highest beat that will make the people go crazy. I feel embarrassed for those famous DJs because they were doing their best but still the crowd wasn't moving.
EXPECTATION # 5: FREE DRINKS
Again, like the typical parties I have attended, I expected to get a free drink even just a cup. I thought it will be inclusive of a drink just like any parties I've been to but I guess, I was just ignorant when it came to parties with "big names" just like this. Hahaha.
But to be honest, even though I think some parts were a fail, I must admit that I had fun. I had so much fun. This was the party that made me realize that you can have fun even if you're not drunk--that you just want to dance, enjoy the music, and be with the people you love.
It was a huge mud party but if you looked at the brighter side, I'm sure the people also enjoyed the mud. :p
Disclaimer: I didn’t have my own photos used for this blog because the only gadget I brought with me at the event was my old iPhone4. I took photos and videos using that phone, but unfortunately, even though it was inside my zip lock bag the whole time, my phone still got wet and yeah, I couldn’t do anything afterwards to recover it.
